Personal Learning Networks

There has been so much that I have learned from this class over the semester.  One is that I really need to work on my personal learning network.  I do not utilize many online tools.  Basically, because I was unaware of them or did not know how to use them correctly.  I have gotten a good start to a lot of useful tools.  I have found several to be user friendly and something I think I would continue to use.  It could really help in the teaching community to communicate and collaborate with other teachers.  I am looking forward to it. 

I think I would find myself using google docs, prezi.com and blogs more often now.  I actually liked a lot of the tools we were able to work with.  It hard to limit it to just a few.  I do know, as I stated before, I need to work on my person learning network.  Which I plan on doing!!  :)

Blogging in the classroom

Being new to blogging, I was wondering just how could I use this in the first grade classroom?  Can first graders even use the computer to blog?  I think so!  There might be some training and practice, but I think it can be done.  I think for the classroom it could be used for journal writing.  The teacher could list a prompt and the students could respond.  I also think it could be use for a creative writing project.  The teacher again could start a story and each student could contribute their ideas to the story.  These were just a few that quickly popped into my head.  I am sure I can come up with several more.  Maybe some type of discussion.  This probably would be better with older students.  I am not sure.  I am still learning so much with teaching and technology!! Blogging could also probably be done with parents, too.  I am not sure how I would handle it but I could probably get information from others on how to use blogging with parents.

I am totally unsure of what I am doing!!!  I have never blogged before.  Can you believe that?! This is a new experience for me.  It will be very interesting to see how blogging works.  I hope I enjoy it and take a lot of new and helpful information with me.  Have a good one!!!    Melissa
